Top Ten Philippines Websites by Alexa Rank as of September 8 2010
This is the third in a series of reports on the top ten Philippine websites by Alexa as of Sept 8 after the second on May 23 and the first on Feb 19.
Overall, it is still the same mix of buy-and-sell, news, entertainment, job hunting and Cebu Pacific, the airline that I think has done a great effort in Internet Marketing compared to the rest of the top ten who have a natural constituency on the Web.
The Filipino-owned websites start at #12 in the Philippines. The top five websites correspond to the global: Google, Facebook, You Tube, Yahoo and Windows Live. In the Philippines though, the social media site Facebook trumped the search site Google reflecting our predilection for personal relationships.

Changes from May 23. The main change was for the Comelec website to fall out from the top ten after the elections. Note: Visits to SYNTHESiST also dropped as posts on the elections lost timeliness.
Ayos Dito went up six ranks in the Philippines to #34 with a strong AdWords marketing support.
While keeping within the top ten in the Philippines, most lost global rank positions.
I suspect that Alexa made a major adjustment in its algorithm that affected the ranking for many sites. Alternatively, the entry of more English-language websites from India and China may have altered the ranking as well.

Changes. Mobile applications on cell phones and on new appliances like the iPad as well social media are changing the patterns of search.
Especially in the Philippine context, many people would rather inquire from friends on Facebook rather than research on Google.
Increasing portability of entertainment will likewise affect website ranking with aggregators and portal appliances affecting choices as well.
